Mobile Car rental Vancouver

Hi folks

Prices are eye watering with our preferred car rental company Avis next summer.

Thinking of booking through Expedia, with Dollar, as I see they do free cancellation so could cancel if prices fall elsewhere. Anyone done this? It reads like it's a refund back to credit card.

Looking to rent downtown vancouver and drop off back at Vancouver airport.

Any advice from those who have rented from Vancouver would be appreciated!

Cheers

Have you looked at Canadian Affair website.
We booked car hire through them with Alamo.
The cheapest we found.
The airport cost less and had more cars to choose from.

Good thinking to book early, the prices usually go up nearer the time rather than down though, at least when we've looked.

Hi
I’ve inexperience of renting in Vancouver but I’ve been researching for a Canadian road trip. Alamo Brits will quote for Vancouver. There’s a small extra to pay to remove the Cd$ 800 excess.

I booked with Canadian Affair just for car hire last year, when I booked they had 10% off offer.

Sometimes Canadian Affair send out promo codes to those registered for e-mails.

It would definitely be worth picking up from the airport. Its only about $30 in a taxi & if, for example, you're getting the ferry over to Vancouver Island it's kinda on the way

Thanks folks.

I like to book early as got caught last year with prices going up.

I checked Canadian affairs but they were quite dear, a discount code would be great and I've signed up for emails. We booked flights with them. I know they have no excess too which makes life easier although I did consider just taking ' cover my excess' insurance. Anyone done this?

I never thought of Alamo Brits, simply because it says you must show your Brits guide and mine is quite old now!

Here now with a hire car. Booked about 9 months ago i think, with hertz. We have 4 days and are dropping it off in seattle so one way fee and i think it came to £250. I didn't think that was too bad? Look at airport prices over downtown to see if that makes a difference?

We booked car hire through virgin holidays. They were by far the cheapest that I could find. Did the same as you’re planning, picked up in downtown and dropped off at the airport. Would also add that the train from the airport to downtown is very easy and cheap too if you decide to pick up from the airport instead.

Thanks all.

I'm beginning to think Canada car hire is much more expensive than USA hire. Although it wasn't 2 years ago in Toronto, maybe just west coast or prices have really gone up as the exchange rate hasn't made that much difference! Cant see prices going down so just going to have to pay up sadly

I tried Alamo Brits and it was the same proce as Alamo site so must be location specific discount.
