To get the Express Pass (normal, not Express Plus) you swipe your park ticket in a machine and get paper slip like at WDW.

You hand the paper slip to the CM.

Sometimes the swipe doesn't work - Guest Services will issue a replacement ticket or if the problem is intermittent tell the CM at the EP line and s/he will sort it out one way or another. Electronic things NEVER work for me but the CMs always look after me!

We went with TCD last year, and we were issued vouchers for all our tickets that we had to exchange at guest sevices.

I didnt think TCD gave out actual tickets, also we had a voucher for our car hire and a voucher for the hotel, which is proof of booking, although the hotel didnt ask for the voucher, we have still got it, they all came in a little wallet type thing.

We found TCD great, have booked with them again next year.

Universal has the Express Pass machine you used to be able to hold up to 3 EP's at one time but that has now been cut to one unless you buy the extra passes or are an on site guest. From what I recall in 2001 and 2002 it was a barcode that was read by the machine and FP's then issued from a choice of two time slots.

we have just got bck from florida and had the tickets by TCD. the ones for universal n IOA did not work in the machines, but one of the CMs gave us a sneeky-trick, where the ticket comes out, there is a red laser, so if it does not work on the actual machine, wiggle it about inside! it actually works!

Yes now I remember it was either swipe the tickets or get the red laser to read the ticket!

We had problems with the fast pass machine reading our ticket as well,(NOTHING to do with TCD I might add.) A CM swiped his own card to get us our tickets for The Mummy, then we tried our own tickets under the laser and it worked, Lo and behold a second fastpass for the Mummy about twenty minutes apart!

We're so off topic here, but anyhow... If you end up with your party split between two time slots, just tell the CM when you go back for your ride and they will let you on together. There will be a max. of 4 parties (4 machines) split like this for each time slot so it really doesn't cause them a problem.
