passport photo on Esta site

Just had to apply for new ESTA and I see you now have to upload a copy of the photo page of your passport. Not sure how long it's been like that but took me a few goes to adjust my photo before it would accept it!
On the plus side, I found an old Fairfx card which had $14.19 left on it which covered the cost

Is this an actual upload though? I know previously there was an option to scan your passport so it would auto enter your information but there was also an option not to do this and enter your details manually.

TBH, I may have got confused but it said to upload your passport and then the information would populate to the application.

You can input the details manually, you don't need to upload a photo.

Strange, I didn't see that option but was doing it on my phone so I could do the photo! Useful to know though as my friend has to do hers and at least I can advise her if she gets stuck. Thanks

I did 5 a few weeks ago and the passport photo option failed on all of them, just manually did them all.

Is this possibly a new thing following the site update earlier in the week (if it happened)?
I know you could do this previously, but had the option which most used to enter the details manually.

Like I say, maybe I missed the option to enter details. I entered name and other basic details and then got to the upload passport section. Kept saying details needed to fill the screen and go the top of the box when it wouldn’t accept it, so I just kept trying. Anyone know how long they’re taking to approve at the moment?
