It's horror stories like this why I switched from budget to Alamo. So glad I did.

There are horror stories for all of them tbh...

We go with Alamo and always skip the counter now so if anyone can avoid a kiosk/counter then they ‘should’ have a painless collection.

I don’t think it’s a horror story , it’s a queue of people waiting to pick their car up, you could face the same with Alamo or any other company if several people get to the desk before you 😉

Whoa, whoa, according to your ma (honest hin, cross me heart 'n'all that) you can be 'difficult'... I question if it was wind and, indeed, you didn't smile?

Linda, you need to step on in here if your lass gives wor a hard time mind...

... and three, two, one...

And you really believe the word of someone who counts the licence plates off Manny’s wall as genuine ticks on the licence plate game? I bring into question your judgement, Chris. Always had you down as a canny lass 😉😂

The staff were unapologetic.

As for queuing for rides I’m afraid I’ve been there and done that. This is a nice relaxing holiday and I’m sat on my balcony in Daytona enjoying the sun.

That said I’ve been here four previous times and rented with either Alamo or Avis preferred and always been in the car in under 15 minutes
I have only waited like this many years ago, sounds like they either had shortage of cars so held you in queue waiting on cars arriving or they had shortage of staff to turn the cars around.

Just write it off and enjoy your holiday

But 2 years ago Alamo did not have any convertables at MCO which I had booked 12 months in advance and fully paid for.
I had to wait for them to find one and so did the other 3 couples waiting behind me.
I waited around 15-20 minutes so I wonder how long the last couple had to wait.
I guess the truth was they were waiting for them to come back.

It can happen with any Rental company but I would not class it as a horror story more of a busy time and we were unlucky.

I know there can be unforeseen issues such as shortage of cars, or certain types of cars etc.

But I fail to see why more companies don't have kiosks where one can process the contract without even seeing an agent.

Alamo have in the terminal should you choose not to go to the garage so why can't all the others. Not hard really.

Plus the rental companies could reduce the staff even lower should they so choose.

I can book a plane ticket online, do bag drop and print my own boarding pass and then fly. If that can be achieved why not for a car?

Great idea this but I guess a machine will find it harder to up sell or even add things with out us knowing.

I think the answer may be the rental companies do not want to make it plain sailing for us tired travellers.

How nice would it be though to just walk up and scan our bar codes, 10 machines in a row and every one would be through in no time.
