From Pacific to Atlantic - August 2019: Day 5 (Epcot)
This is how DS started the day - strawberry cupcake for breakfast! He snuck off on his own to the Boardwalk Bakery while we were all getting ready. Followed by his sister who had a pain au chocolat. DH and I skipped breakfast in anticipation of a fairly early lunch. We had three FastPasses booked for this morning so headed for the front of the park. Soaring was up first, and we all really enjoyed it. It always makes me smile to see the bendy Eiffel Tower! After that we went on Living with the Land which is always a nice relaxing 10 mins and it's interesting to see things growing that you usually only see on the supermarket shelf. Am I the only person who thought pineapples grew on trees rather than in the ground? Then we headed for club cool to try out all of the sodas from other countries. I actually quite like the taste of Beverley - it's a bit like flavoured tonic water I think. Then onto the Seas pavilion and a little bit of time to kill before our next FastPass. So we went into the aquarium and watched the sharks, dolphins, rays, turtles and fishes for half an hour. We went on The Seas with Nemo which was ok, then headed off to our lunch reservation at Teppan Edo. We visited here last time we came to Disney and this visit was just as good. We were sat with a Texan family who were really nice, and our chef was excellent - doing all of the usual tricks like the mickey ears and the onion volcano. He kept trying to do a British accent and failing miserably, and he was highly amused by DS saying cheers instead of thank you. DS, DH and I all had chicken and steak combo and DD had chicken. We all managed very well with the chopsticks too! I had a very nice cocktail - Saiku Punch with watermelon, coconut, pineapple and plum wine. This was delicious and tasted like a proper holiday drink! DH had a non-alcoholic cocktail which he enjoyed. Desserts were also surprisingly good - we all had mousse cake (I had green tea, DS and DD had mango and DH had ginger). After our delicious lunch we headed back out of the park and back to our hotel for a rest. We all read and played on devices for a while. We managed to get an early evening FastPass for spaceship earth so went back to the park at about 6pm. We decided to go the other way round world Showcase this time so we could stop off at Karamelle Kuche for a snack. I had caramel chocolate pecans, DS had chocolate caramel fudge brownie, DD had a caramel filling chocolate cookie and DH had a salted caramel square - all were delicious! Karamelle Kuche - I could eat everything in this case! We continued walking round to the front of the park and did Spaceship Earth. My favourite part of this ride is the end where the car turns round and you travel backwards down through the stars. By this time we were both tired and hungry so we went to the nearest quick Service, which was electric umbrella. The food was fine, we had burgers and chicken nuggets - but the decor in here looks like it hasn't been updated since the seventies! As we were walking out we caught Illuminations again - love all of the fireworks! We were lucky that there was a boat there just as we were coming out of Epcot so jumped on and it took us to the Boardwalk. I was happy not to have to walk back at the end of another busy day! |
