Fuel Near LAX
We're hiring a car half way through our holiday and then returning to LAX at the end - any suggestions for where to buy fuel nearby? It's the only bit of driving I'm a bit concerned about, so I want to have it all planned out.
Thanks

Hi
I had a look on my pre payment cards from 2 years ago but I must have paid in cash so can't remember exact one. Don't know if you're hiring from Avis but if you search on google maps for gas stations near your destination there are a few close by. The car rental is a shuttle ride away from the airport so please include this in your time planning. The ones right near airport car rental returns are likely to be very expensive. If you can it might be good to fill up at normal prices a few miles away and then use the close by gas station to top fuel to the brim. We didn't plan this properly the other day near FLL pre return and the closest was a ridiculous price. We drove another mile and it was cheaper but still expensive. Some of the gas stations on google maps show price. We noticed in Florida that there is a lot of variation in prices generally.

We typed in the Sat Nav Fuel Garage. If returning to Avis (and most car hire company's) there is literally a couple of petrol stations a stones throw away and both fuel prices were average prices. They are both on the junction of Aviation blvd and Century Bld, one on each side of the road. They are no more than 5 mins away from Avis.

You won't stuggle to find a gas station, there are several very close by and you will pass one or more in the last 1/2 mile or so whichever way you approach.

The one there next to Denny's was reasonable earlier this month, the one over the road over 20 cents a litre more.
The Arco just up the road is over 50 cents more, so you do need to be careful. You don't need to fill up right on top of the rental place. anywhere within 10 miles and it will still show as full on the gauge. We saw it cheaper by about 30 cents cheaper 5 miles out than even the cheapest closer. |

Use Waze satnav and then search for fuel en route, it tells you gas prices and how off your route they are

The one next to Denny's was $3.69 a litre on Wednesday, I think it is a Shell garage.
Be careful with Arco garages as they don't take credit cards in the store. Saying all that, I filled up in Long Beach and the car was still showing full when I returned it to the Alamo garage so no charges incurred. |

Yes... use Gasbuddy...
We did 1800 mile round trip back in 2016 and found this a great way to find the nearest / cheapest gas stations around the area. Plenty of stations nearby LAX. Was pretty straight forward.
