the 1st time we went to the west coast we based our elves at the Best Western Plus Raffles for the 2 weeks. Great for getting to Disney, Knotts etc. If you are prepared for the LA traffic, if you want to drive up to Universal and WB, then do it.

There are beeches near Anaheim eg Newport, Huntington, Long beech all are driveable in under an hour, or you could choose to look near the beech and travel to Disney etc. Also from the beech area lego land is about 60 miles south. Personally 2 weeks in the one place would not be ideal but in your situation you could do it, but be prepared for the traffic expect an average speed of 20 mph.

On our first two trips we were Anaheim/Fullerton based for the full trip, and it worked fine. For beaches, Huntingdon is down Harbor Boulevard, and also took a drive to Santa Monica. There is also a park and ride facility at Anaheim railway station, with trains to LA, where metro/ bus links can take you to most tourist destinations across the city.
Last time was a road trip which started and finished in Anaheim taking in PCH, San Fran and Yosemite. |

We stayed for 5 nights near Anaheim and did Universal, Warner Bros, Long Beach as well as a few others whilst based there. The LA traffic is every bit as bad as described however we found it manageable using Google maps. The maps were incredibly accurate by putting in either the time you plan to leave (so gives expected arrival time) or the time you want to arrive (so gives a predicted start time). We're early birds so leaving early suited us and worked well but it would have been a nightmare with traffic if we weren't.
We used the Go LA 7 day card (£235 + cashback from Expedia in 2018) to visit Warner and Universal as well as lots of other places. That worked well for us. |

Just to echo how easy it is to get to beaches from Anaheim - I remember it being an easy 20 minute drive on surface streets (ie no freeway) to get to Huntington Beach from where we stayed near the park.
While I don’t think I’d necessarily choose two solid weeks in Anaheim I think you can make it work if you want to avoid moving.
