Hi leeah - altho I can use my Fla car insurance policy for hires from/to the airport, I hire via a UK agent to ensure car supplier insurance cover. Unfortunately dual site/pricing regularly catches Brits out, seems you may have accepted the price aimed at those utilising their own US car insurance and didn't note the insurance exclusion, which is easily done. £240, if for 17 days (£14 a day) is very cheap based on hire prices now seen. As you don't hold US car insurance the desk agent was legally bound to apply their insurance charges. Excluding the refundable deposit, has your full costing become £640? What did Alamo quote?

THIS is the site the Argus 'deals' email redirected me to - if one does a mock booking they'll note the only inclusions are; cancellations, amendments and unlimited mileage

I chose to access via Quidco, once directed to Argus, I ensured the following were included afore clicking confirm:

Chrysler 200 or similar
Standard

Included for Free

Collision Damage Waiver
Theft Protection
Third Party Liability
Cancellation
Amendments

Plus Your Hire Includes

Unlimited Mileage
