Tell me about MYW tickets?!
I keep hearing people talking about them and how they are sometimes the cheapest option.
How come? Is there a catch? Know zilch about them so if anyone has any info it would be appreciated. Thanks! xx

They are cheaper if you only intend to visit Disney parks for a few days during your holiday.

First, have a look at the DIBB's page explaining Disney's Magic Your Way tickets for more info.
Disney's Ultimate tickets give you the full 14 (or 21) days access to the Disney parks, including all options. Whereas MYW tickets allow you to pick and choose the number of days you want to visit and the options you want (such as park hopping or access to the waterparks). This means that if you only want to visit Disney for a few days and don't really need to park hop or aren't bothered about visiting the waterparks then you can choose a ticket with the options you want for a (generally) cheaper price. There isn't really a catch - it's just that you're trading flexibility for price. The Ultimate ticket allows you to go to Disney whenever you want during your 2 week holiday - even every day - and you can park hop or go to any waterpark/DisneyQuest whenever you want. With the MYW tickets you're sort of limiting yourself to how many visits to Disney you'll want and whether or not you want to go to the waterparks. With MYW tickets, it does mean you have to have some vague idea of what you want to visit at Disney before you go. Let's provide an example:- For next year, you can get an adult Ultimate ticket for £250. A 7 day MYW Base ticket for an adult can be bought for about £188. So this MYW ticket is about £60 cheaper per person than the Ultimate. However, this only gives you access to the main Disney parks for 7 days over a 2 week period and you cannot visit the waterparks and cannot hop from one park to another on the same day. It's cheaper but offers less - for some people that's all they need though.

The MYW tickets allow you to buy only what you want.
So if you only want to visit the parks for 4 days, then you only buy 4 days. You can buy anything from 1 to 10 days You have to pay extra if you want to visit more than one park on the same day (park hopping) You also have to pay extra if you want to visit the water parks & Disney Quest. You can pay extra to make the tickets not expire (without this, the tickets will expire 14 days from first use. They are a good option for some, not for others. They are less flexible, but for only a few days, or more days without the water parks, they can be a cheaper option.

Does anyone know who to buy the MYW tickets from as most agents sites I have been on are pushing the Flexi full 14 days, no good if you just want a couple of Disney parks

Orlando Attractions seem to be the only ones who offer 5 days plus 2 free on the base ticket. Current price is $289. Unless anyone knows different.
We have been numerous times before and don't think we have ever park hopped. We also have Aquatica tickets so don't need water parks. I think 7 separate days in Disney is plenty and for the 4 of us it offers about £300 saving over the 14 day ultimate

Re Park hopping,
in the past we've done Typhoon Lagoon in the morning, Disneyquest in the afternoon and then EPCOT for the fireworks in the evening. This would be 3 days on MYW if you have not purchased the park hopping option. All depends on how much Disney you intend to take but once you have tickets like the Ultimate you tend to think, lets do a Disney Park as entry is already paid for.
