high car hire prices in April!

I am booking our car hire for our April holiday and I am really
surprised how much they seem to have gone up! Ideally
although there are only 2, of us we usually like to hire a mini
van but most companies are coming out at over £1000 for 16 days
rental! Looks like we might just have to go with an intermediate! which still seems to be over £500!

Anyone had any good deals for April? and who with?

Maureen

Sadly, and you wont want to hear this but you are far too late to the party. The best deals were 9 months ago.

It's a case of hunting around now and trying all the usual suspects.

A lot of it has to do with your start date.. If its pre 22nd, then it'll be expensive. If your holiday spans this date, it'll be worth trying to do it as 2 rentals. If you want to drop me a message, I can take a look at the offline prices.

I found the cheapest by far is through Virgin. Booked yesterday for 23 days commencing 18/04/19 & price was £774.39 for a Standard SUV (Hyundai Santa Fe or similar). This includes all insurances including the $1,000,000 extra liability & an extra driver. Its with Alamo so you can select which car you want & Virgin have their own online check-in so you can go straight to the garage upon arrival.

I found the problem was because we are going over Easter, however Virgin dont seem to be charging any extra, unlike the other hire companies.

this is guessing your date from your countdown
7 seater minivan for 16 nights = £720.87
Intermediate SUV = £510.40
Standard SUV = £550.42
Cheapest car is £411.51

Hope this is some help.
