Often, especially since I've chosen a career that involves taking a number of postgraduate exams! I've taken at least one exam a year since I graduated from university and this is going to continue for at least the next few years...

On the upside at least I do find the information I need to know generally interesting, so that helps!

Well the dissertation proposal has been submitted. At the expense of SWMBO speaking to me this weekend an account of me not being able to look after DD today. I wouldn't mind but I was meant to be nights and am only off work due to an IBS flair up from stress. Now, where's there a brick wall to bang my head against

I applaud anyone trying to better themselves for my part I don't have one, had a wonderful career and retire in Dec aged 50. My retirement pay will be £50 less than my pay... My point being qualifications aren't the be all and end all.

Years ago. I worked for Nat West and at the time of the RBS take-over I was offered & accepted a senior position on the “migration” project team to move Nat West’s international banking ops to RBS’s IT systems.

It was a nightmare. My new boss was only there because his old department was closed down and they needed to put him somewhere. He knew nothing about it and was aggressive about it. A bully.

During the first 2 years, the project team was hit by 2 divorces (partly due to pressure of work) and the fatal heart attack of our 40 year old head of team. Also mainly blamed on work stress.

I ended up with severe depression, off sick for months and never really got back into the swing.

My boss was demoted, moved into a smaller, junior team.

I was given early retirement on full pension due to his bullying & harassment.

If I’d known at the beginning what I was getting myself into I would have turned down the job.

I’m feeling a little like that now. Accepted a new job which will start end of next month running alongside an MSc in advanced clinical practice. Plus the usual home commitments, daughter who dances 4 times a week and also has GCSEs this year, son who requires just the usual teenage attention and a husband who works away. Why on earth have I taken the new job and study on?! It’s the next 3 years of my life. I’ll definitely be needing my holidays.
Bernard301, good luck with the assignment. Have a little break, clear your head and it will come to you.

Thread bump!

I've just (well in the last 30 minutes) submitted my dissertation. Its funny, I've sunk 2 yrs into this and right now am completely ambivalent as to how I feel about it. I'm sure it'll be a different story when I get the results however

Did my Masters years ago and then got a great job at double the salary. Retired now but glad I did it, should have done it sooner. Persevere
