No more Avios from Tesco Clubcard

Just had letter from Tesco that BA (Avios) and Tesco clubcard partnership is ending 18th January 2021...
if you automatically exchange points for Avios this will end on 22nd October 2020...:
Your Avios will still be valid as long as your BA Exec Club account remains active…. better get spending them !

M&S would suit me. I am still doing a weekly food shop there for some neighbours and pay by Amex so my Avios points have built up over the past 7 months.

(As for an earlier poster, i offered to do the shopping at the beginning, when lockdown was to last for 3 weeks 🥴 ).

I can't see it being M&S somehow nice though it would be and if it was Waitrose I can see fits of the vapours in certain of their supermarkets as the weekly Saturday customer who spends their £10 to get a free newspaper and coffee gets their free Avios too.

No offence intended to regular Waitrose shoppers.

No offence taken as a regular Waitrose shopper. I dont think there are many of those coffee and paper shoppers left.

I click and collect but with long queues round the car park and the older shops not out and about unless its desperate I thi k they have gone.

May be just my area of course

I am a regular Waitrose shopper over the years - I cant remember ever having a free coffee or paper but they used to proactively offer them at the till now with 100% self service in my local ones there is no people interaction (unless you hit the call bell) and the machine looks sad lonely and unused - like you I see Waitrose for regular big shops now - the quality knocks M&S out of the game Too 👍

Free coffee stopped with lockdown. My dad used to nip round and buy something, get the token, get his coffee then drink it as he went round doing the big shop. Free paper stopped then too.

I think it depends on the size of the shop - my local one is quite small and when I do a top up shop (with more than £10 of goods in my trolley I would say 95% of the shoppers are the coffee and paper shoppers.

Waitrose doesn't really have much of a presence in our area so I can't comment about their larger stores but I do like wandering around the Canary Wharf one.

I guess I dont really believe they will partner with Waitrose it would just be my preference

My Waitrose is my closest supermarket, maybe if M&S were closer I would shop there. My husband loves fish and Waitrose do a great selection of quality frozen halibut, plaice, haddock and cod. Easy meal, grilled fish.

I like the Waitrose quality, its not cheap but going into lockdown I have been determined ed that if we are eating at home we will eat good quality food. I get a weekly Tesco delivery for neighbours so if there is space I add store cupboard staples to that.
