Expensive toys 😳

Its not that we can’t afford these but I really don’t like to pay expensive for something to gather dust.
My son doesn’t play with his lego anymore. He still has his lego table in the playroom that is dusted but not played with.

During lockdown my youngest (7) watched lego ninjago and really enjoyed it. He has made a Christmas list with the help of symths toy shop and written down about 4 lego ninjago items. Each around £80 😳😳😳

One is currently on offer and should actually be £120 now £85.
If he played with his lego I would not mind but my husband has pointed out that he will build them then thats it. Just more dust collectors.
I am thinking of just getting one (the flying boat thing thats on offer) and if it is a success I will consider the others for his birthday.

Are any of your children/ grandchildren etc wanting expensive gifts?
My lad really has no idea on money, it could be £5 or £50 🙈🙈

Always a difficult one. Luckily DD is not really wanting toys this year, but wants a Switch, so she will get that.
It is hard when they dont really appreciate the ‘value’ of things. I would just get one and any others he wants he might be able to get with christmas or birthday money.

I think christmas will be alot more slimmed down this year with regards to presents as job incertainties etc are going to be increased at this time. X

Maybe it’s an good opportunity to start to get him to understand the cost of things, perhaps you could explain how expensive they are and say this time he can have just one and for him to really think which one he would like the most x

Yes, definitely need to have the chat with him.
We have always done one main gift and lots of smaller/cheaper items.
To be fair he only has a tiny list. 4 ninjago sets, a full drum kit 😫 and a giant cardboard box like last year.
He is a funny little man ☺️

I have to admit that my wife was not greatly impressed when I purchased her the Lego 'Friends' set last Christmas. Fortunately it was not her only present. I even had to build it for her, such was her apathy.

From that, I can only conclude that 'Hogwarts' is a non starter for this year!

My Daughter is 19 and absolutely loves Lego, but then so do I

I do buy big Lego sets but I'm very lucky that through work my DD gets 40% off so makes it easier. Lego was always a massive hit with my children and my Grandson loves it

DD has Hogwarts and I have bought Diagon Alley for her this year.
