Health insurance - confused!
I have lots and lots and lots of health issues so I always use a specialist insurer. We go in a couple of weeks and I have had to leave insurance until the last minute because I have been waiting on some test results.
Got some quotes today and annual travel insurance is coming up at half the price of a single trip with Get Going who I have used before and found to be great. Can this be right? I have only ever bought single trip before and it seems strange that a full year policy is so much cheaper (great if it is, extra cocktails for me ). Does anyone who has an annul policy find it much cheaper than a single trip? I have compared both policies and they are identical apart from the price and the length of cover.

I have no idea about the company but for America I have found that it is cheaper for me with my medical conditions to get an annual policy rather than a single one.
Makes me want to book extra holidays to get more value out of it. 😜 |

Hi I've always found that annual policies are cheaper than single trip. At the moment my bank account covers me even with the health conditions, although I really need to check that it's up to date!

I had issues last year and decided to get a single trip for just me rather than an annual one for me and hubby, it was only about 30 more for both for the year so guess which I bought. Crazy I know

Might be silly, but do check that it includes the US!
That being said, I do find that annual policies are much better value. Maybe the statistics show that people who go on holiday frequently claim less often - either because they’re more experienced travellers or their health is generally more stable?

When I worked in sales for an insurance company it is often the case that annual worked out cheaper than single trip if you have medical conditions. It depends on the formula the under writers use to assess the risk. The price can also be affected by things like a higher excess amongst other things. A higher excess means you’re less likely to claim unless it is serious.
Just make sure you check the terms and conditions carefully as well as the area of cover to make sure it suits your needs and if you have concerns get in touch with their sales team. Most are heavily regulated so while they may not be able to give advice they should be able to give you factual info to help you make your decision. |
