Crap week.. R.I.P Gizmo
So Monday we should of been flying off to our Happy place, Orlando. Obviously that was halted because of Covid. Same day my 10 yr old Shih Tzu Gizmo became very poorly, trip to the vets and numerous tests and there was nothing they could do for him, vet said kindest thing to do was to put him to sleep.
He is our 1st dog and my Christmas present puppy in 2011, he has had 10 wonderful years with us, and I'm left Heartbroken, it all happened so fast that I haven't had time to come to terms with it. Now I'm glad that the holiday was cancelled, because there was no way I could of left him, and part of me thinks he waited for the time when we were off work and could be with him when he went downhill fast. Does the grief get any easier? I can't stop crying. Other non dog people don't get it, and I don't feel like anyone understands my grief. R.I.P Gizmo my Gorgeous Loveable Boy |

So sorry
It does get easier it’s the empty feeling in the house if you only had one dog that’s awful |

I’m so sorry! It sounds like Gizmo had a wonderful life with you. My dog died 7 years ago and though it’s easier it still breaks my heart he is not with me.

They are part of the family and leave a void in you .
We have experienced it a couple of times , and it is terrible . Yes you are correct a lot of people who have never had pets don’t get it . Sending lots of love at this very sad time . 💜 |

So sorry to hear about Gizmo, yes the grief gets easier, when our last dog Slinky had to be put to sleep I cried for 9 days, I still have the odd tearry eyes and it was almost 5 years ago, but we had her 15 years and these pets are part of the family. It will get easier ,just take comfort in the fact that you gave Gizmo a good home and didnt let him suffer at the end.x

Sorry for your loss.
I believe the only thing that helps is to focus on the good times. There will be people suggesting to try to have another dog as soon as you can. I agree with that, but appreciate it is not what you want to hear right now. |

Sorry to read your sad news.
They are such a big part of the family. It’s like any loss, does get easier in time. I still miss my Tilly I lost a few months ago. |

It's a bereavement, the pain will lessen over time but there will always be that sadness as with any other grief. Be kind to yourself. X
