Cabana Bay vs Surfside
We should be off to surfside for a couple of weeks in 25 days but clearly we aren't going!
Just looking at booking for May next year and Cabana Bay is not much more What are the key differences between the hotels - ahve looked at room layouts and kind of prefer surfside as you get the separate bedroom but cabana looks slightly bigger However important for me - what are the hotel facilities like and how do they compare |

I think Surfside wins on amenities for me. But this is due to its location as I could walk to a few things (e.g. Walgreens across the street) where nothing outside of Universal is really walkable from Cabana Bay. CB definitely has a lot more to do within the resort itself and the pools are better, so it would probably win for most people.
Unless you need the extra space of the family suite, I would probably go with CB if they were much the same price. There's also the family rooms at CB, although they will be more again. |

We chose between the 2 for next July.
I was all set to go with a family suite at Surfside, liked the idea of being close to idrive and the theming looked nice, layout of family suite was a bit better. Then on BA cabana bay family suite was actually cheaper, better pool, walkable to parks, pool hopping, across the road from Aventura and Sapphire both of which I really like for eating and drinking.

Stay at cabana and use the pools at the other top universal hotels like hard rock etc. Also the boat into the front of the parks

I think Surfside will end up winning for us, simply because our 2 boys (will be 21 and 16) will share the room with 2 beds, so that means me and hubby would be on the sleeper sofa in Cabana Bay and I don't fancy sleeping on that!

That would decide it for me.
It’s me, Dh and Ds (14) so Ds will be fine with a wee bit extra space in a family suite at Cabana bay and he can decide on the sofa bed or the extra bed in the room when we get there.

We ended up with CB …. Was only £30 more for a family suite? Boys are 13 and 9 so will just crash in the bed so no need to use sofa bed meaning we will get full use of the lounge area
