We already know that Genie + is going to cost families a fortune. Especially those that stay for more than 3 nights ( UK visitors). I guess it may not be necessary to purchase Genie + in the off peak periods but for most on here that have children or work in schools the experience will be a lot worse without Genie + unless you enjoy 60 minute queues in 90 degree heat

Yeah but you don't know that. It will be interesting to see how this works over Thanksgiving and Christmas. That'll give a good indication of how this will impact people going at Easter or Summer.

This concerns me. The lovely thing about the days of no phones/ paper fastpasses/ park hopping was the ease and spontaneity of it. This new flexibility sounds even more mental stress and
I feel like Disney started down a rabbit hole with the move from fastpass to fastpass+ and, now, they're having to tie themselves up in knots. I might feel better about the financial side of Genie+, if Disney hadn't, for a while now, been raising prices so much across the board ($25 for a 50th anniversary chocolate bar anyone? ) and, at the same time, been removing things previously included (service and entertainment, details big and small). I know! ...Wake up early to an alarm on your holiday and compete with thousands of others for a 'chance' of paying to get a slot - it sounds more like booking Christmas supermarket deliveries than a magical escape. That sounds more relaxing to me. Even more than FP+ I feel this new system could make it difficult for one-time visitors and/or those new to Disney.

Do you know what I actually don't think it's all that bad, yes the tickets are expensive but I think I will be willing to pay for the base service. Even as a family of 6.
Compare it to Alton towers and it's actually very reasonable. Alton towers Charge up to £130 for fast pass per person. So I don't think I begrudge $15 to much |

Even so, the longhaul international market makes up a tiny fraction of their visitor base. I honestly forget they have a European marketing presence because European visitors to Orlando don't even rank in the top tourists lists. Less than 1%. Even us Brits are only 2%.
90-95% of their customers aren't going for a long trip. And that's the market they're going to make their decisions around. Does it suck for the Brits using all 14 days of their tickets who want to ride lots of attractions? Yes, absolutely. Do WDW care? No, no really. They're getting their money from the domestic market. It would be better if disney charged the 150 per person. When this started the worst case was the pricing they have come out with.
Its just right to tempt nearly everyone atleast once. If say tron is open. Standby is at 160 mins the kids are to small and your other half wants to go home. $15 is affordable even if it means no dole whip |
