What age to take children?

Every time I’ve been to Florida it’s been with older family (no kids). We cancelled our 2020 trip in 2019 as me and my partner found out we were expecting our first child (alas covid would have cancelled it anyway)..

Our son is fast approaching 2 years old and I’m starting to think about our first family trip to Florida. My main concern is the flight but more importantly, what age do you think is a good age to take kids? It’ll be at least another two years until we go but I want to try and make plans now really.

Is 4/5 years old a good age to take kids or is it still a bit too young? By that time he’ll know what’s what and hopefully be less of a handful on the plane.

Any tips on taking young kids to Florida? I doubt we’d do both, Disney and Universal, probably just Disney but that’s not too important just yet.

Very early days yet but I just want to try and get a year in mind which we can then work towards.

Honestly there is no bad age because you will have fantastic memories regardless. So I would say if you can possibly go more than once, then go as soon as you can. Don't wait.

If it is once in a lifetime then perhaps 5 or 6 only so that the child themselves might remember it.

We took our eldest when she was 5. She loved it. We took our youngest when she was 4 months. We have some lovely photographs of her with the characters.

Now our youngest is 2 and I know when we go next she will have a fantastic time. I think there is no bad age.

4/5 will be wonderful, as would 6/7 etc... i think with each age they see, understand and remember more.
We went when my first was 18 months and again when he just turned 4. Both magical, although at 4 he started to get some fear of things.

Take a pushchair no matter the age, as its so tiring and you'll be thankful for somewhere to put bags.

New little toys, or toys not played with in a while for the plane.

Lots of snacks😁

All ages are brilliant. We've travelled with babes in arms and toddlers and children and teens and all are wonderful and worthwhile in their own ways.

Both of ours went for the first time aged 2. They had an absolutely brilliant time, not that they remember much now… we do though!

We waited until our son was 7 believing it was a once in a lifetime trip.. Haha!

Our daughter went to Disneyworld for the first time at 1. She had done DLP and a Disney cruise before she was 3.
I honestly don't think any age is too young. They might not remember it but the memories you make and remember yourself are priceless.

We took my DD when she was 5, she loved it and we loved seeing her enjoying it. She says she can’t remember much but we recorded a lot so can look back which is nice. We are due to go back next year and she will be 13, she’s still just as excited as when she was 5. We also have a 5 year old DS this time so will be exciting to see his reactions and how they will be together.

We brought DS for the first time when he was 4. We introduced him to Disney characters through the Disney Channel back then so he was familiar with most of the characters. We had a wonderful time and have many happy memories.
As mentioned above, a push chair is a necessity even if he is well finished with one by the time you go.

There is no right or wrong answer to this…we have been taking our granddaughter since she was 18 months….will she remember it..of course not, but I have the pictures and the memories of her little face enjoying herself. 🥰
