As we are hoping to get a cheaper deal by going to Florida after exams next year I've had a look online and I can find all the confirmed GCSE exam dates for next year on the different exam boards websites.

However my sons school has told me the exam dates will not be finalised until January of next year. Does anyone know if that's correct.

There are several things you need to consider.

The exam dates themselves.
The exam contingency dates which are usually a week after the last exam (for everyone, not just your DS exams).
Any Prom / post year activities
If coursework has not been completed they can be refused permission to leave until that is complete.

Looks like Wednesday June 24th 2020 is the GCSE contingency day next year, so after that should be the earliest date that should be considered.

Some non written exams eg music performances, MFL speakings are on a date chosen by the school and so these won't necessarily be confirmed yet. However the written exams that are on the exam boards websites shouldn't change (but may do). No exams should take place after the contingency day of 24th June, but they do have proms/sixth form and college inductions etc that they still might need/want to be around for.
