Japan January 2019 Itinerary

Our son and his fiancée are heading out to Japan in January too, they fly on New Year’s Eve. They are staying in an Airbnb in Tokyo, also visiting Kyoto. They are going to Disney and Studio Ghibli museum too. They also have plans to see some Japanese wrestling shows the first week in Tokyo (not Sumo) which they really enjoy. They are incredibly excited about their trip too.

The day trip to Fuji/Kawaguchiko was the highlight of our trip (apart from TDR!) When we went in January this year. It's probably the best time of year for your chances of getting clear skies too, here's the view we had when we got there...

That looks incredible! I was worried we might not have great visibility but not anymore!

Can I ask where specifically you went to/how you got there etc?

We got the highway bus from Shinjuku towards Fuji Q theme park, but got off at the Shimoyoshida stop, a few miles before Fuji Q. You book for the stop you need but just press the button for the driver when you're going to get off,
there's screen showing the next stop so it's easy to see. After getting off at the stop we followed a walking guide towards Charito Pagoda where that viewpoint is, I downloaded a pdf off the highway bus website but it was signposted anyway and was easy so didn't really need it.

Booked online a few days before as we wanted to see if the weather was going to be clear first.
