We go next month and everything I read indicated that it does not matter too much where you stay as long as it is near a MTR station.
We opted in the end to stay in the Cordis in Mongkok. It is linked to a large shopping mall and the MTR station. No idea if that's a good choice though! Edited at 11:14 AM. |

Sheraton Towers, Kowloon - stayed there in 2016 (after a 5 day stint at Disney's Hollywood Hotel), and it was lovely. Gorgeous hotel, really well located for touring, right near the docks for catching the Star Ferry over to the mainland, and very close to lots of food outlets and tiny supermarkets.

We stayed in the panorama by rhombus, Kowloon side. Fab hotel, pay the extra to get a room on a higher floor and you get the following: Fantastic view of harbour, free WiFi, breakfast on the top floor, free drinks (beer, some spirits & soft drinks) for a couple of hours every evening. Free nibbles too. Not great but ok. MTR station outside around corner.

Just in Hong Kong airport after a few nights as part of our honeymoon, we stayed at the Harbour Grand And we're about 2 minute walk to the MTR and 10 mi uses from there to Central.
I would say if you stay near an MTR yoy can get anywhere as it's so easy to use. |

Maybe a bit late to this but we stayed in the Eaton on Nathan Road in Kowloon. It was a bit of a bargain and the airport bus basically drops off and picks up outside it. Also we saved a small fortune by going for room only and getting breakfast each morning in the McDonalds across the road (breakfast for 2 with a drink each was £5).
it was near the Jordan MTR stop but as others have said the public transport is amazing so it's all very well linked up. Enjoy your planning xx |

The Peninsula in Kowloon, stayed there in 2006, still my favourite hotel, had a great harbour view over Hong Kong.
