When we did our search I think pretty much every flight involved a stop over. Other places included Copenhagen and Munich depending on who you are flying with. Don’t just put Manchester in to your search as as I mentioned earlier it cost us an extra £700 to fly from there rather than Newcastle. Instead we are going up a day early and have booked the Premier Inn for £35 for the night.

It was possible to get flights for as low as £600 for summer holidays but that was booking 11 months out. You need to book early. I did research at the time and there was an article that said flights to Japan rarely go down once released. I’m not an expert but we found this to be the case in our experience.

We are really looking forward to our stop over in Dubai. Yes it will be hot but I’m planning on spending my time swimming, shopping and eating (air conditioning is wonderful ☺️ )
After four days in Dubai we have 14 days in Japan. 7 in Tokyo where we will be seeing Tokyo Disney/Disney Sea and the rest of the time looking at what Tokyo has to offer before traveling to Kyoto and Osaka (Universal Studios).

From Manchester it looks like I have to change and most were showing Dubai. Good shout about the weather there, I wasn't thinking 🙄

I will keep searching and reading trip reports and pop back when I have a more specific question.
Noted re flights, I always thing everyone flies from London. No excuse for that considering I am actually Mancunian!

Hi,

I often fly from Manchester to Helsinki and on to Narita (Tokyo). I like this route - its about 2.5 hours to helsinki - a good connection time of around 2 hours in Helsinki and then around 9 hours to Tokyo - BA/JAL/Finnair do this route. I love the JAL (Japan Airlines) flight the food is really interesting!

I also wouldn't chose to go in August (heat/humidity and rain) but if you don't have a choice I guess you are stuck with it.
