Suggestions for car insurance please

I know it's not the most exciting topic!

...But I'd really appreciate suggestions for a change of car insurance provider.

I've been with Direct Line for ages and they just keep whacking up the price to a ridiculous extent. So, it's time for a change.

Who are you with? Are you pleased with them?

Use one of the comparison websites such as gocompare, confused, mysupermarket.

Aviva are normally quite competitive too

Thanks, going to do that anyway -- but I'm also hoping to get some idea of which companies people have found to be good and reliable, since it's been a while since I've looked into this.

I guess you don’t know how good they are until you make a claim. I am with Direct line, husband is Hastings. Last few years I have shopped around for a price then rang Direct Line who matched it and saved me moving. I had a claim with Direct Line and it was dealt with very easily

I was with Direct Line until they ramped the price up and wouldn’t listen to reason - I haven’t made a claim in more than 20 years.
Went to LV and couldn’t recommend them highly enough, easy to deal with and had two renewals with only a tiny raise one year and a reduction this year

I've been contemplating contacting DL to see if I can get a more competitive quote without changing. So, it's good to know they matched yours. Just need to do some research first.

I'm with Churchill, oh yes! At renewal time I use the comparison sites as their quotes on there are cheaper. A quick phonecall and they match the on-line price and I'm happy.

We’re all with Direct Line, just had renewals and they’ve gone up by only a couple of £ (actually mine went down)
Son had a claim and it was dealt with very quickly and easily.
