My pain started in under my right rib, and radiated round my stomach, it was horrible pain! Nothing would touch it, cocodamol only calmed it a little as they were easing off. It honestly has me in tears every time!
It would also get just little stabs when I ate something that angered it!
I too had a giant stone and a couple friends.
Had my gall bladder out last March after 6/9 months of waiting, best thing ever! Once it was healed up I havent had any further bad pains!

Hi there,

I had several episodes of chest pain... once ending up with an ECG before I was diagnosed with gallstones. Also had what has already been described by others as high abdominal pain and tenderness in my side. Was a relief to have it removed in the end... take care

Two of my daughters and I have had gallstones and had our gallbladders removed. The pain was different for all of us. Mine was on the right under my rib cage and through to my back, DD2s was much lower in her back and DD3s was in the centre under her bra line. Like DippieDawnie, I had a large stone that was stuck. Terrible pain! I said at the time, id rather give birth to them all over again! Good luck!

Sounds like gallstones. I would get pain under right ribs, right shoulder and in my back. Horrible horrible pain. I had mine out in 2017 and they found an inch large stone.

Get an appointment with your GP - they can get you a referral for an ultrasound which can detect gsllstones.

There will be a
wait for surgery so in the meantime the only way to keep pain somewhat less is to restrict your diet and find out what triggers the pain attacks. Mostly this will be anything with fat in it - cheese, butter, milk, visible fat on meats, fried food, dressings, avocado etc. I was in so much pain sll I managed to eat was strawberries and melon for weeks (lost a lot of weight).

Hope you get better soon.

I thought I was having a heart attack the first time I suffered with gall stones. I saw my doctor the next day and he said it was acid reflux. Treated me for that for 4 years until he retired. I had more frequent painful attacks but he refused to take it further. When I saw my new doctor she sent me for a scan and it was gall stones. Had the op within weeks and no pain since.

When I had gallstones I thought I was having a heart attack when I had the first bout of pain... so my experience sounds similar to what you have described.

I dont envy you, I really suffered from several attacks and it was horrible not knowing when they would come on.

I had my gallbladder removed in the end and they found 2 large gallstones - they told me it was unusual as normally people have lots of little ones.

Good luck - I hope you get an answer soon.

YES YES YES! I endured years of tests on my heart for a suspected Heart problem including a really extensive (2 hours!) MRI Heart stress test in St Guys hospital to get the all clear. And after calling into my GP crying my eyes out after 16 straight hours of severe chest pain and by now i thought it was stress he took pity on me and arranged a scan. 2 days later the sonographer couldnt believe her eyes! My gallbladder was enlarged, inflammed, rammed full of stones and she had no idea how i was managing day to day! My pain nearly always was at night. Never had a colloration to food but importantly the pain was in my central chest mimicking heart attack.

I had mine out about 12 years ago, as others have described pain in right ribs and back, was awful. Dairy definitely set me off more than anything else. Been on medication ever since having it out but worth it!
