Travel Money Help

HI There

We travel to Disney world 2nd week of March for 2 weeks at pop century. cannot wait been a long time coming.

Need some advice with how to take our dollars? Is it worth not taking any cash? Shall i keep transferring money from my ISA to my debit account each day? Shall i take a travel currency card?

So confused!

Thanks

Chris

There’s loads of options. We have a credit card with no foreign currency fees, our bank account has no foreign currency fees, we have Revolut cards and I also have a Starling account with fee free foreign currency transactions. Plus I have a small amount of cash.

Great I'm thinking small amount of cash and maybe get a revolut card. Can you top these up from your mobile while i'm over there?

Sorry also while at Disney I'm guessing its all card payment? I wasn't planning on getting magic bands so can I pay on my Disney card that you receive?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help.

You can either charge to your room (ask for a key to the world card when you check in) or you can just pay using a separate payment card. Cash is fine too, although there were limited cash tills when I was there last month. Especially for QS, it's much faster to use mobile order instead of queueing up for the one till they have open.

I used Revolut for QS without any issues, you can top up through the app if you want but I had a fixed budget that I transferred over to dollars in the app beforehand. Everything else was charged to the room which was paid using a no forex fee credit card.

You can top up when over there. I did have issues with one of my bank accounts, not Revolut’s fault, as they flagged it as a suspicious transaction and at that time the only way to resolve was with a phone call.

We always take cash - approx $100 per day. I have a Monzo account but got stung recently on having to give a credit card at car rental, and although we had pre paid had to pay transaction fees on some tolls that were charged. I have now ordered a clarity card from Halifax so I have all bases covered (I think!)

We usually take all cash and have a credit card as back up. Will it be a problem to use cash only at Disney Springs and the resort hotels.
