We are currently toying with an April trip but this on top of the increased flight and car prices is making me swither again. Although I’m no stranger to tweaking plans to do things cheaper!

I'm not too concerned as we're no strangers to eating cheaply if need be, but will also have a set amount money that we can add to spends if they end up depleting quicker than we'd like

Going in sept, accepting its going to cost more to eat, as has the holiday itself, but as it wiĺl probably be the last time for a few years just biting the bullet and having what we want. Hoping the dollar may have improved by then though.

We got back 10th Jan and really shocked how much it had gone up. Even a Mickey ice cream! Not helped by the poor exchange rate. We are going back in July hopefully parades back and the Genie/LL will have settled down it might be better. But the cost V quality of food issue won’t go away don’t think the DDP will be much benefit either. With all this extra cost I don’t think we will need the extra empty suitcase in July!

Inflation was around 2.5% in 2018

Now its 7%.

For the mid term elections thats a big downer for Biden and can easily be spun.

As mentioned food seems to be the hardest hit.

Looking at food price inflation, only in May 2021 it was 2.2%, now its 6.3%, which is a huge jump.

With inflation, if it was comparable to wages, say £25,000 PA..thats around £1125 extra you'd see if it kept parity. However we know that isnt going to happen, so really for a lot of families that is a huge, huge amount of extra money they will need to find to keep up with prices.

I'm already upping my holiday budget, we've some dining credits but mostly dvc so a mix of spending. I keep an eye on the Disney menus for prices.

The supermarket prices seem awfully high for basics.
I like to eat lots of fruit, which was always highly priced pre covid. How are prices now for apples, melons, berries etc?

4 days and counting and only $61 of dining credit a night for the both of us.

Time to get the fish net tights out and shake a leg me thinks!

This seems to come up a lot, people think the exchange rate is poor, but honestly I just checked, in the last 5 years the highest it has ever been is $1.42 to the £. Today it is $1.36.

So if you take the age-old Dibb rule of thumb of $50 per-person-per-day for a family of 4 that is £2,800 for a fortnight.

Today that would require £2,059 to acquire
At the best rate it has been in 5 years it would have cost £1,972

So a difference of £87 or £1.55 p/p/p/d - hardly a fortune

If you haven't been since 2014 though you will notice a difference (that was the highest rate in last 10 years) as it was $1.71 then

So in 2014 it was £1,637 to get $2,800

So that is a p/p/pd increase of £7.50 - (£422 in total)
