Sorry I don’t know how to reply to numerous posts in one reply 🙈

It definitely sounds like his school want to avoid being legally bound. He is silent and doesn’t ask for help or chat with others in class so he isn’t disturbing the class at any time.
He has two close friends, one in his class, one in the opposite class, the three of them remove themselves from the others at playtime and do their own thing. During golden time on Fridays (30 min free time) Mason and his best friend sit at the back quietly observing the others and never join in. The friend in the other class has autism and his class friend is diagnosed with ADD but they suspect autism. If we bump into them outside of school he won’t look at them or speak to them.
Cahms in our area is virtually impossible to see, they are only seeing children who are at risk. Mason has emotional issues regarding school but not serious enough to get him an appointment with them.
I am on the fence with high school, if his friends go to the same one he should be ok. My middle sons school has a fantastic SENCO department, the children are in different classes called pathways. My eldest and middle child worry he will get bullied because of his size (he is very tall and very big) he can’t run and walks with a waddle due to a few issues (under specialist) he often can’t walk or bend his knees so throws his legs out or just gets down on the floor 🙈
Children can be very accepting, kind and welcoming but you can get the odd mean child who could bully him.
My main concern at the moment is he is gradually falling further and further away, he is always going to miss a lot if school unfortunately and in turn he gets anxious and upset when going to school.
It’s draining when its 1am and he is crying and growling because he doesn’t want to go to sleep because its school as soon as he wakes up. I think he needs some kind of emotional support in school as well as someone helping him with work he has missed. His teacher is brilliant but she us dealing with 34 children, she simply can’t split herself in two. Apparently he is so quiet in class they forget he is there. (He is sat at the back next to the door which is opposite the disabled toilet)
Sorry to waffle on 🙈🙈🙈

Your son deserves a proper education and I would hope that there are appropriate resources there for you. I don’t have any experience of this, however is there a medical area of CAHMS that could offer extra support? I completely understand that more time away from School causes anxiety on return to the normal School environment and I also understand that trying to complete schoolwork at home can be super difficult. I’m really sorry for all the stress you are both going through and I hope that if you could get in touch with your Local Authority or Medical Professionals they could point you in the right direction for support. Take care. Xx

Just to add, after my numerous emails his school finally said they found someone who could sit with him in a separate area while he completed the maths & English his class did today. He was in for 30 minutes this afternoon, sat in the kitchen with a reader (adult who goes in to read with children).
I felt like saying this was a waste of time but I suppose its better than nothing. A little shocking that the children only did a total of 30 minutes work on maths and English combined 😵≈💫

Sounds like you've had a stressful time with schooling recently.

I carry out assesments for the local authority as part of job for the social care aspect, the C in the EHCP.

It can be quite a complicated process, no diagnosis means you should have one and certainly and there is no exact qualifying entitlement. Each child is unique as are their circumstances.

If you feel an EHCP would be beneficial, that his needs require the ongoing support and that alternatives have already been tried then consider starting a parental request for one.

If there's anything you'd like to ask you're welcome to message.
