DH 50th - holiday ideas - please help!
Hi all,
Hello you wonderful creative Dibbers, I need your help. I'm trying to think of somewhere different to stay for DH's 50th just for the two of us 1-9th/10th April this year. Been racking my brain for weeks but can't come up with anything. Budget flexible but not US flexible unfortunately. Thinking of a hotel with swim up pool, private hot tub, villa with pool in Europe somewhere. ?Iceland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy etc. Spain at a push. Really open to ideas. Can anyone recommend a resort, a hotel, an experience etc. Thank you!

No ideas really but a hotel with a swim up pool sounds like it would be a higher rather than medium-lower end hotel.
If so, 8-9 days in that level of hotel in Europe is likely to cost more or as much as a 8-9 day trip to the US? April in Iceland, Austria or Switzerland may not have the weather for an outside swim up pool either? |

Is there anywhere he’s always wanted to go? Does he like sun, cold, sightseeing, relaxing?

If you like sightseeing then Sorento in Italy is lovely, so much to do for a week, but not sure how warm it would be in April for usig the pool.

No pool or hot tub, but we did Barcelona for my husband's 50th. We stayed at the El Palace Hotel, which was amazing.

Would you consider a cruise? Hot tubs, pools, entertainment, lovely food and somewhere new to visit most days. We went on a cruise for my 50th and find them a great holiday when travelling as a couple

Thanks everyone for all your ideas.
I don't think there's much difference in hotel prices between US and Europe, but the flight prices are much cheaper for Europe and I also have to factor in the flight time for only 8-9 days. Sorrento might be a good idea, I was thinking of Italy actually. I think I'll put a separate post on for recommendations. Thanks you lovely people!

I know you said not US but what about a 3/4 day New York trip?

We went to Las Vegas for DH 40th. It was around £870 each for flights and 4nts at the Cosmopolitan inc breakfast.
Barcelona for mine wasn't much cheaper room only for 3 nts. Best to decide where you want to go and work it from there. Better to have fewer days in a place you want rather than longer somewhere not as special. Swim up pools - look at Turkey. |
