Things to do in Belfast

I’ve booked to go to Belfast in March to watch the ice hockey. We have 2 games on 11th and 12th. I haven’t been to Belfast in a very long time, I’ve got a feeling it’s over 10 years, so I’m looking for ideas on what to do during the days and where to eat.

We’re flying into Belfast International, and expect to be in the centre by 11.30 on the Friday, with the match at 7.30, we’ve then got all day Saturday with the match at 7.00. Our flight back is at 10.45 on Sunday, so no time to explore then. We are staying in the Titanic Quarter which is handy for the arena for us.

Titanic museum is now on our list, thank you. My DD has got the monk on with me, as she's not coming, (it's just me and mum) and she's just been learning about the Titanic last term at school.

I remember doing a open top bus tour on one of my previous visits, and we were going up one of the troubled areas, can't remember which one, and the bus driver was telling us how he used to be a taxi driver and pointed out to us where he'd got shot.

HMS Caroline, a light cruiser and the last surviving ship from Jutland. She has just been very heavily refurbished and is, I believe very close to the Titanic exhibition.

Hop on, hop off (bus tour) is a good tour in any city with little time.

They used to depart half way down the main shopping street ( Donegall Street in front of city hall) on the right near Macdonalds.

We did most of the above but also Black Cab tours which was very good, takes you round both the Protestant and Catholic areas and this driver was very knowledgeable then asked to guess from his description of what went on which side he came from. After that we did the Crumlin Road prison tour. Anyone that thought prison was a cushy number should see the inside of this one. Certain parts were grim indeed.
