I enjoyed but felt done if the casting wasn't quite for me especially Tony.

I was reading an article last week about Stephen Sondheim.
Apparently, he disliked the 1961 movie version of his work but felt that what he saw during the making of the 2021 movie version was far superior.

The original is on tv on 27th so I may watch that again as I've not seen it for donkeys years,

Went today. Thought it was fabulous but I've not seen the original film or the stage version. The costumes and cinematography were phenomenal. I did think that the 12a rating was on the cusp though with the fight scene. My two are 13 and 14 and even for them I felt it was very graphic.

Went a couple of days ago, enjoyed it, think people who have not seen the original will be blown away, but I love the original film.

We saw it last Saturday and all cried.
It was absolutely beautifully filmed.
Rachel Zegler is incredible and it all started with her playing Maria at school.
There were bits I preferred in both the old and the new.
DS has played Tony so it’s a very special one for us.
He wasn’t keen that Tony had been to jail!

We saw it at a really lovely little cinema at Sea Containers in London. Absolutely perfect for avoiding the crowds and far nicer than any of the obvious London choices
We pretty much had it to ourselves
If you find yourself wanting to watch a movie in London, check it out.

I saw this today. I thought it was great. Both the leads were fab and I loved the new Anita! Also, I liked the way it was filmed with less cutting backwards and forwards and just one shot in many of the songs (I'm sure there is a technical term for this). I especially liked the Jets in the police station singing Gee Officer Krupke, they were great and it was a fab scene.

West Side Story won Golden Globes for Best Picture (Musical/Comedy), Best Actress (Rachel Ziegler) and Best Supporting Actress (Ariana DeBose). Nothing for Spielberg though
