Autistic children and masks in August

We are booked to go in August, already been postponed twice. Both children are autistic (age 11 and 8) and have quite high sensory needs. One is a runner when scared or anxious.

I’m worried they won’t cope with masks and fact they have to wear them. Combined with August heat it’s going to be tough. They won’t/can’t wear them here in the uk. What will happen if they take them off? Which they probably will.

Do they wear them on the flight? Fly with Virgin.

Do I cancel the holiday? Properly stressing me out.

I’m in the same boat as you, two of ours have autism and neither will wear masks under any circumstances at all, and we had also booked to go for the whole of August. We decided to cancel last month as I just can’t cope with the stress and I just don’t see that mask wearing is going to end this year.

Can I ask, if anyone knows... masks do they have to be "proper"masks, as my soon will wear a bandana type 🤔
