Based on some of the comments on here I am surprised people are willing to visit the US.

There is plenty wrong in many nations including the U.K. and the USA. The difference is that neither sets out imposing laws and systems that deliberately ostracise people on the basis of religion, sexual preference, xenophobia, race or anything else.

I can be an Indian homosexual holding hands with my boyfriend, wearing a t shirt saying that there is no god, whilst wearing bikini bottoms and stiletto heels in Oxford Street and would be left to my own devices by public and police.

The U.K. and USA also have clear, Democratic election of those that govern.

Sadly I think history in UK and USA evidences that perhaps certain members of the police or public would not tolerate this.

Not saying i agree with certain laws or practices in the Middle East though just suggesting they are not alone in their lack of tolerance.

'wearing bikini bottoms and stiletto heels'

We've seen things like this in Brighton , we love living in a city where people can be who they are without judgment or punishment.

We are so fortunate to live in a civilised and democratic country.

Omg I’m going in 2 weeks for a holiday based around World Expo.
Really concerned now as it’ll be myself and daughter. 2 females.

You and your daughter will be absolutely fine. I went for a week, in Ramadan, before lockdown, as a 63 year old female solo traveller. I never once felt uncomfortable or unsafe and had an absolutely lovely time. Enjoy 😊

It should appeal to me but I just can't bring myself to go because of their human rights history.

Please don’t be concerned. It is fine when you get there. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but as a relaxing holiday, it’s lovely. I probably spent my first couple of days being over cautious re dress etc but it really wasn’t needed.

I also have concerns politically but, to be honest, if that was a consideration in my travel, I would find concerns everywhere and probably wouldn’t come home either!

I won’t go for moral reasons either. Largely down to women’s rights. Don’t get me wrong the US isn’t doing well atm with their changes to abortion law, but it’s still a far cry from Dubai.
