At my work we see lots of dogs come in that have been attacked by other dogs unfortunately. We had two yesterday. For your vet bills it might be worth seeing if you can take them to court yourself to recoup the money, although not sure if that’s a thing, but maybe something to investigate? I would contact the local dog warden too. Also if it was me, I wouldn’t take my dog back to that field if there’s a chance that dog is there. I know you shouldn’t have too, but I would be worried it could happen again.
As for the wounds, they look like they should heal up nicely. I’ve seen some horrific injuries that dogs have sustain, far worse than that, that have completely healed. It will also take time for Boris to adjust to the buster collar, but he will! I hope he’s not too shaken, and on some good pain meds! I hope you can also recover. My old chihuahua was once attacked by a chocolate lab years ago. Just the size difference, the lab would have killed my dog, but I was lucky to have scooped my dog up before he got injured. It was shocking and I still remember the fright to this day. Btw Boris is so hansome even with a cone ❤️ |

Oh bless, those cones are horrible aren’t they! I hope yours was ok in the end?
Anyone who has witnessed a dog attack will know how utterly traumatic they are! |

I’ve always had to take the cone off ours and use a buster collar the cone drove ours absolutely crazy
The smaller dogs I’ve used a child’s hair wash shield thing You should be able to take the cone off when he’s with you and certainly when the stitches come out I’d have been like Jim ready with a pitchfork |

Asking around at the field today for more information and trying to find the two witnesses, the amount of people who have said that their dogs have been attacked before was astounding!
We also spoke to a lady who’s black lab was attacked by the same Pointer as Boris but thankfully didn’t require vet treatment. That’s good to know about his wounds though. Thank god you could scoop your dog up! I wish we could have done that today but at 35kg he’s a bit too heavy 😂 I’m fine now thank you, I’ve moved into the anger stage! I just feel so bad for him. Oh thank you, he will always be my handsome boy, even with a busted ear! |

We’ve actually just taken it off him while he’s sat next to us, we can make sure he doesn’t scratch it. He’s fallen asleep immediately now that he can get comfortable. Will put it back on when we go to bed, although Jim has said he wants to sleep down here tonight to make sure he’s ok.
I’ve definitely had a job at trying to calm him down, he’s ready to go knocking door to door! |

This is awful! I’m glad your husband was ok!
Thank god it was all on CCTV, this will be the sticking point we have unfortunately and unless we can get the details of the two other dog walkers who witnessed it then it will be our word against hers. I’ve printed some posters that I’m going to put up around the park asking for information. If nothing else it will shame her, vile woman 😡 |

Thanks Carolyn, we just need to get the details of the witnesses. We were in such a state earlier we didn’t think of asking them at the time! I see one of them regularly at the field so hopefully they won’t mind helping, although I think she may be friendly with the owner so who knows!

Yes I definitely will try and get a photo the next time I see it, it’s an unusual colouring for a Pointer and there’s only one as far as I know at the field so won’t be hard to distinguish
