Orlando/New York

Hi

Really tempted to spilt this years planned trip

4 days (including travel) New York and 10 days Orlando.

Would love to see NY and the flight prices are brilliant just now.

Planning to go with Lufthansa Glasgow via Frankfurt.

Would need to then book Internal flights NY to Orlando

Has anyone done this route before and how did you find it?

We plan to only take hand luggage as staying in a villa once in Orlando.

I have 3 kids 13,12 and 7.

Thanks

For when? As of 29th January anyone aged 5+ without a double vaccine can’t go anywhere inside.

We had booked to go London to New York, then new york to Orlando in august. With a couple of nights in New York to see a few sights.
However with the recent changes in covid requirements in new york we aren't sure if we should change, as only 1 of our 3 children is over 12 and will be fully jabbed. I believe currently new york ask for 5-11 year olds to have had 1 jab to go into any restaurants or experiance/activity. So we are concerned we won't be able to do anything if the UK doesn't start vaccinating 5-11 year olds. Or even if they do, there is a chance that new york will increase that requirement to be 2 jabs (as new york seem very keen to have as many people fully vaccinated as possible).
This is just something I would keep in mind if you have kids under 12 who may not be jabbed yet.

The change is already on the NY statute books to be doubled jabbed 5+ and is coming 29th January.

Ordinarily, this is a great split centre trip to do but with the NYC vaccination requirements for children, it's not one I would recommend for families until we are also vaccinating ages 5-11 or the mandate is lifted.

In fairness, the same applies in Chicago, so I'm sure many places are going to enforce the same mandate.

We're doing almost the same, 3 days in NY first to let our 7 year old "see the sights" and then on to orlando. Only just see the rule changes for NYC which isn't great for us. Might have to see if we change to just an indirect flight, I don't fancy 3 days of sitting in a hotel room with a 7 year old bouncing off the walls.
