MrTM the Font of all Car hire knowledge... Does it make a difference if I tick the option for Pre-Pay Fuel on "optional extras" when I log in to my ALAMO booking (I noticed it when I did OLCI but didn't select it but presume I can if I "amend" my booking) or if I tell them at the booth when I drive the car out the garage when I pick it up (MIA) that I want to pre-Pay a tank of fuel?

I usually bring back full but it was a bit of a faff last time doing that in MIA as it was really busy and I got a bit stressed so would rather take it back empty (or close to empty!) this time!

no difference

the fuel is paid for locally (charged upon return of the car)

it does not make any difference selecting the fuel option at online check in, or at the exit gate (just verify on your rental agreement that the fuel service is duely noted)
you can also cancel or add that option either by redoing OLCI or at the exit gate

the only requirement is that you take the option before exiting the parking garage


ETA if you've already done skip the counter, go back to online check in. Select "print later" to access your reservation
at the bottom you have a "change online check in information" at the top of the check in information box
you can then change options, you might need to retype some information re:license/dates

Perfect thank you chmurf. I will add it before we go, thanks for the heads up on how to change it on my reservation, I will make sure I check the paperwork before leaving the garage to make sure it's included the option I have selected (I always feel a bit rushed if there are people behind me!) - Got a mini van booked but keeping an eye on the prices as if the 7 Seater SUV comes down a bit more before we go then I will be amending my booking to that anyway so can add it at that point, if not will update it like you suggested.

haha yes that is true... i'm probably just being a typical brit and being to polite trying not to hold anyone else up even if it is at the detriment to ourselves

If you forget to take the Fuel Service Option when booking etc you ask for it to be added as you drive the car out through the check booths.
