First Time Booking Cruise
I am looking to book a DCL 3/4 night cruise from either Port Canaveral or Miami for sometime in July 2019. I am eagerly awaiting the release of these dates and have been trying to do my research but as its my first cruise its huge learning curve. The question I have is which is better - booking through Disney or a travel agent? (and if an agent who do you recommend?) I would like to book 2 interconnecting rooms with balconies if at all possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

If you book via a travel agent (such as Dreams Unlimited) they will normally give you an on board credit (a credit on your cruise account that you spend on the ship) which Disney won’t give you. So it saves you a bit of money to book via a travel agent. Have a look at the deck layouts before hand and identify which cabins you are interested in (I use the DCL website to see which cabins are available). Tell your travel agent and they will be able to book the cabin for you.

You can book direct in £££ or book using a US TA in $$$. It really depends on how comfortable you are with the exchange rate changing.
We use Travel on a Dream as do a lot of repeat cruisers on here, but lots book direct too. My advice is just not to book with a UK agent .. it's either a US TA or direct. Booking any other way will give you horrible terms and conditions which mean no changes (room or names) without financial penalty. A good TA will be able to tell you which rooms connect as they will have been on the ships - make sure they have if you go with a US TA as many haven't. Alternatively, come back here and we can help. I would suggest you look at the Category 8a's though on the Dream, they are on deck 5 and 6 and are massive oceanview rooms. The ones on deck 5 are better IMHO as they are split by a wall so you get a bedroom and a lounge (2 TVs too). Amazing rooms. Joa

I booked the Dream for our first ever 3 day cruise earlier this week, I used dreams unlimited and they were great, even when we made a change at the last minute. The process was very simple and the agent was very patient and we got onboard credit to help with a shopping splurge/drinks etc.
