GOLDUSH GATE GADABOUT - Day 18 & 19- Sea day & Home
Day 18 & 19- Sea day & Home
COMPLETE INDEX HERE Last day of our fabulous 14 night cruise. We had a whale of a time. The boat was as perfect as ever and we made the most of all the shows, entertainment, and childcare. Georgia had the time of her life as usual and was very sad for it all to be coming to an end. Georgia had really joined in everything with gusto. Sometimes its difficult for her being an only child and living with just us two old biddies , it makes her very sensible in her ways, and she likes other kids to be sensible, any rule breaking gets to her so mixing and trying to make friends with groups of other children often famillies or siblings is very hard. But she had jumped in with both feet this time and made lotsve friends with the kids and the counsellors. She won all of the trivia quizzes (not surprisingly the number of times shes been to disney) and managed to win a cuddly mrs potatoe head along with a load of certificates for this and that. The only thing that surprised and disappointed us a teeny bit was the weather, but what can you do about that huh? We expected alaska to be nippy obviously, but expected alot milder weather on the way up from california. We pottered about packing and eating and packing and drinking. Georgia spent most of her time in the kids club, she did manage to squeeze in a little swim when the sun came out for an hour or so midday. We had a little time on deck too watching her, and relaxing. We watched the farewell show and for the first time ever Georgia was on the photo montage at the end which was lovely. I always thought they just ran the same random photos everytime as I never reckonised any of the kids from around the boat Said goodbye to our servers at dinner and gave them their gratuitys. Georgia loved the lady server who had made a huge fuss of her for the last fortnight so we gave her extra. Went on our last walk around the bars thanking the barmen and others who had kept us company then it was time to pick up Georgia from the kids club. All packed up but never ready to go home Day 19- Vancouver Airport- home Blurgh worst day of the holiday. We were going to have a look at downtown vancouver as we had a few hours to spare but the bags were problematic so we eneded up just going to the airport and basically waiting all day ... A bit of bad planning but as it happened it wasnt too bad. Vancouver is a nice airport (if not expensive? ) The free wifi was great and we did a bit of shopping and lotsve eating. Flight was on time, our seats were alot better than coming out, at least no crazy german recliner in front of us, and a relatively short flight and we were back in Heathrow. Our transfer to newcastle was perfect and all too soon we were home AFTERTHOUGHTS We had a fantastic holiday. Not as funny a trippy as usual but it never is when we are on the boats , we are much better behaved Anybody considering an Alaskan Cruise - DO IT It was on our wish list along with San Fran and disneyland so we feel we have ticked off a few things. Florida will always be our favourite but seeing other wonderful places is amazing. Thanks to anybody who has read through this. Sorry it took so long, my health is not always the best and the lack of note taking made things worse. Till the next time Best of the worse photos[[[[ : " NO I DIDNT OVEREAT ON THE CRUISE" ( hes gonna kill me ) Lady on the right doing the monty python...oops Im in a photo walk Edited at 03:16 PM. |
