Which AKL option?

Looking at AKL for a few days but not having visited thought it was only tiny. I understand it is two accommodations, Jambo Lodge the larger and more detailed and Kidani Lodge (sp?) which is much smaller with lesser activities and facilities but more relaxed and quiet.

Anyone who has stayed at either or both care to comment?

We have only stayed at Jambo House. It is beautiful, the reception area is quite breathtaking. It is a short stroll over to Kidani although they do run transport from one to the other. We ate at Sanaa which is a Kidani but it was dark so didn't see too much.

We have stayed at both and they are both beautiful.
Jambo is the biggest of the 2. It's has a stunning main lobby which is huge. It is quite busy, has the largest of the 2 pools, houses Boma and Jiko restaurant and also the Mira market place when you can get some delicious counter service
Jambo houses hotel rooms from single hotel rooms to studios, 1 and 2 bedroom DVC on floors 5 and 6

Kidani, personally is my favourite of the 2. This is all DVC from studios to 3 bedroom villas. Although if you are not DVC, you can either rent points or pay rack rates!

It is smaller and quieter. The lobby is not as big or grand but still lovely. The pool has its own water park and is a favourite with kids.
Has its own restaurant called saana but not counter service like Jambo.

Both have extensive savannahs full of animals and both are beautiful. You certainly won't regret staying there. I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to add a lot more to this

Just to agree with whats been said . We have stayed at both and prefer Kidani . The 1 and 2 bedrooms are slightly bigger and and you get an extra bathroom. In other words if you have 1 bedroom you have 2 bathrooms and a 2 bedroom gets 3 . Whereas in Jambo you only have 1 or 2 in the 2 bedroom.

The pools are smaller but as has been said the poolside movies and the kids waterpark area are great and marshmallows by the firepit also add to the experience . Also if you have a hire car you can park undercover which means its not to hot when you get in.

It's only a short walk between the 2 buildings though and the restaurant choices are better and Jambo.

But our favourite room was at Jambo up right under the thatched roof overlooking the viewing area and waterhole.

We've stayed at Kidani and loved it. Not stayed at Jambo but will one day as it's a stunning resort. I would think you can't go wrong with either. :-)
