I know exactly how you feel. I was terrified at the thought before we went, but once I got up there, I was ok. I think because lifts don't bother me, it's the only reason I got up. The ESB was the scariest, haven't clue why and the TOTR wasn't nearly as bad. I was a lot braver up TOTR. I just kept thinking if I went near the edge, I'd fall off.

You don't have to go outside on either, there is an indoor bit at the top, so maybe if you could brave the lift, which takes a matter of seconds to get up to the top, then you might be ok. Even if you do brave going outside, there are benches set back so you don't have to go anywhere near the edge.

Hope you get to go.

Hi again
How long did the lift take to get up to the top? Was it a roomy lift or small and crowded?
Thanks Sue

Hi Sue

It took about 20 seconds. It's a big lift and there's music in so you can hear anything (creaking and stuff, which I don't like). They tell you to look up when your going up, but as you don't like lifts, I wouldn't bother. There's a YouTube video of the journey back down , if you feel you want to see, but it's recorded looking up the glass roof. To be honest, I didn't feel like I was in a lift, I'm more scared on a plane and managed 7hrs to NYC and 8 to Orlando lol , hence 20 seconds was a walk in the park for me

Shell xx

Hope you don't mind me asking but did you purchase tickets for totr, esb etc before you went to New York or purchase them in New York. Just trying to work out what is the best thing to do? Which one did you think was best esb or totr, what we be better to do with the children? Thanks!

I would always suggest wait till you get there as there would be nothing worse than the days you have booked the cloud cover is low and you get to see nothing

Thank you, we are going in July and have been told that there are huge queues up to 2 hours long for these attractions, just wondered if it was cheaper to buy here or if it saved time in JFK. As we are only there for 2 days we wanted to try and make the most of every minute we have.

It will save time buying here for sure but you will still have a queue to get in. As to costs, the savings are minimal unless you but as part of the NYC pass or the bus tour
