Babysitter
Hi everyone,
I’m using a babysitter for the first time in a couple of weeks time. What is the going rate these days? I would have no clue. Thanks. |

Suppose it depends who it is. Is it a professional or a friend or relative etc?

Depends on what time will you be going out/ coming home, age of babysitter, ages and number of children. My children are well past babysitters (14 and 21 !) but I was paying £20 back then hence why we very rarely went out. We were always back before midnight or so so about 4/5 hours

Thanks all so far.
My two are 11 and 7 years and we’ll be out from 5pm and back at midnight. So 7 hours. The lady is my daughters dance teacher so I know her well as do the kids. I asked a few other mums and they said between £8-£10 per hour. But I don’t want to under pay her, if that’s not the going rate these days. Thanks for your help. |

I think I will put my application in too. Very reliable, over 20 years experience !
Seriously though. I think £10ph is a bit over the top. I think about £5-7 ph would be plenty. I understand though if you don’t go out much and you can go and have a good evening with no worries. Maybe ask around a bit more locally to guage opinion. |

I’m a professional nanny and going rate in London is £10 an hour, outside of London tends to be more like £8 an hour.
