I've nannyed for the last 15 months or so and I got paid £13 p/h - which is my opinion was extremely generous! Whenever I did babysitting, I did this for a few families at the nursery I worked at, I charged £9 p/h - this was my hourly rate at work and just around minimum wage for my age

We paid whatever minimum wage was a few years ago when we used a lady from nursery. It was expensive but needs must.
I would suggest asking your babysitter how much her rate is? This is usually agreed upfront, in my experience. Enjoy your night out. |

Ive always used teenage girls who were happy with £20 and the house to themselves. If i had to pay £8 per hour I would rather stay in!

Well it's a job so whether you declare it to the tax man or not minimum wage applies (although I leave it to your own conscience as to whether or not you want your kids looked after by someone paid the bare legal minimum or someone worthy and demanding more for their abilities)
Under 18 £4.35 hour 18-20 £6.15 21-24 £7.70 25j. £8.21 So it seems that unless you are getting the 16 year old next door to do the very minimum is £6.15 an hour |
