Love it, 32 days until we do it again. We fly GLA ->LGW to Tampa though, usually get excellent prices and a much quieter airport. Suits us as we also spend last few days of trip at Clearwater and it makes for an easy drive to the airport. We’ve never had any issues with the change at LGW, usually have some breakfast, do some shopping, time passes quickly.

All depends when you are going, Glasgow gets fog bound in the winter months so potential for delays in the morning which can mean missing the MCO connect flight.
However the vast majority of all flights taken in the world are indirect and the majority seem to t where they want when they want. If indirect didn't work (in the main) people would have stopped using it and the airlines stopped selling it ages ago |

It is absolutely fine. We've done it a couple of times now and are doing it again in a couple of weeks. It makes for a slightly longer travel day but that's about the worst thing we've found.

We've flown this route a few times without any problems.
Price with BA (flydrive) has also been good by taking advantage of their sale around Christmas. Last year we flew into Tampa and we were pretty quick through customs. For the flight home we were through security in seconds. This year at MCO we were the best part of an hour going through security. |

I've done it once or twice. Pretty straight forward. Bit of a longer day so its more tiring I find but if the price is right!

Thanks for the replies. Have decided to go ahead with flying indirect as saving made will pay for park tickets.

Looking at your countdown you will be travelling at a similar time as ourselves.
The last couple of years we've paid around £1200 for 2 of us for 3 weeks flydrive flying both Gla-Gat-MCO and Gla-Gat-Tampa. This works out at under £400 each for flights which is excellent as far as I'm concerned. These were booked late in the year and early in the year during the BA sale. We always look for the earliest flight into MCO with BA which is around 3.30. When flying home we don't want to be hanging around Gatwick more than a couple of hours as well. |
