best time to book flights for price

Its such an open question that it is really difficult to say. My advice would be to set a budget of what you are willing to pay, set up alerts from all the flight booking sites and once you have the price you want book and dont look again.

As you are going in September you should wait another month-6 weeks as most airlines release flights 11 months before.

We've booked the last couple of years late December and early January in the BA sale.
We also go mid/late September for 3 weeks and paid around £1200 for flydrive for 2 of us.

I've always booked on bank holiday sales on virgin my flight for Nov was only 384pp which i was happy with

I booked BA flydrive on the day the flights were released. People say you shouldn't check but I can't resist: the price we paid has not been bettered since, even in the sales.
