Only if you go Dublin to Philadelphia (or Chicago) to Orlando, as you go through us Customs in Dublin (orShannon) and don’t see your cases until Orlando

Flew AA this year LHR to MIA was brilliant loads of room great staff good entertainment and food good ish, I think that Daytona Babe has a more reined pallet to me as I loved the pasta I even eat my daughters as well.

Be careful though as AA bought a load of US Air old planes and routes and on these you may well not have IFE I would avoid anything through Charlotte for starters.
Ah, not quite. The aircraft known as LUS (legacy US Air, as opposed to LAA legacy AA) were part of the takeover if USAir. This included the Airbus A330, with Seatback IFE, tge B767 without seatback IFE are Anericans own,

We flew with United this year. Their LHR to Newark route has poor IFE, no on demand and films on a loop, you should be able to get in flight wifi to use their app for IFE but this wasn’t working on our flight and there are no USBs in economy. Flying home via Dulles the planes and IFE was much better, so just watch the route.

Our flight was cancelled coming home as we were flying via Houston a few days after their hurricane hit, we knew 48 hours before we were due to fly but the only flight we could get was a day after we were due to depart, we weren’t given any help with accommodation costs (although Disney helped us out). But from experience this is common with US based airlines in general.

Insteps a wonderful lady in a red uniform working for VIRGIN ...Who told my daughter to get me to ring United direct and re book them on another flight she knew was available .Which i did and she flew BA to Heathrow then United to New York ...on flight as we speak .Without this help she would have more than likley not got a flight until tomorrow as its Thanks giving wed and flights are full ..In Fairness to United the call center in Chicago was 100% Manchester United Groundstaff 0% ...But the Award of the days goes to Virgin Groundstaff 100% .And if anyone knows any of the Ladys there please please say a big Thank you to her .I am in the process of writing a letter to Virgin for their Outstanding service ...Totally above and beyond anything expected .Bit off topic but but my only dealings with United ...Needless to say i will be sticking with Virgin

What is? European airlines (maybe not the very budget ones) tend to replane you or put you in a hotel in the case of bad weather.

Certainly my experience when travelling on business in Europe anyway. I got stuck in Munich last year due to a thunderstorm and the app gave me loads of options.

In the US plane travel is seen more like buses, with the service level to go with it. I just set my expectations accordily. If something goes wrong within the US, don’t expect any communication or help. You have to have a contingency plan.

We flew AA this year. Cant fault anything apart from the food, but its the same with most airlines. Plane was the best we have been on to date (A330). I would put AA at the top of my airline list, along side Delta.
I have found all the American airlines (AA, Delta, United) to be better than any UK airline we have flown on.
Watch out for the Boeing planes that AA still have. Some are old small ones that have no IFE system.

If a delay is weather related the airlines have an obligation to offer assistance but none to pay for a hotel. Some airlines are definitely better than others at looking after their customers but don't assume that within Europe on a business fare (and or with frequent flyer status) you get the same treatment as someone on a bucket and spade fare on the same plane when a flight is weather delayed.
What the airlines actually do and what they are legally bound to do is very variable

Nope. I've been put in hotels on two separate occasions, and both were weather related. They may not have been under any obligation to do so.

One delay was in the Doha (Emirates, I think), the other in Germany (KLM)

I was on economy rate and no FF both times.
