Mobile Sat-nav with wifi

The girl in Thomas cook said she had sat nav with wifi that she used to connect her phone to Internet. Is this something that's possible and if so does it come as standard or do you have to upgrade your sat nav?

i think she might of meant that the sat nav ( i have a tom-tom) connects to the internet via the hotspot facility on the phone.
this provides the sat nav with internet access so it gives you live traffic updates and gives you the option to divert. also in the sat nav search you can look up hotels etc and the sat nav will guide you to them

Some American cars come with On Star built in which gives you a WiFi hotspot that you can connect your phone etc to.

For instance, all GM cars come with three months service from new so if you get one less than that age, and it's been activated, you're in luck.
