Size of car and approximate cost for 2018
Our holiday is booked next August for 15 nights but we only want 12 nights car hire. There are 3 of us 2 adults and one 6 year old. We want to colllect the car whilst staying on Disney a few days into our holiday and then return to Orlando international. We are unsure what size car would be best. Also what a good price would be. I have a quote from Virgin £340 4 door economy and £373 4 door compact. I know it's early but wanted to get an idea of price for budgeting.

How much luggage will you have on the way back? We've always booked either a full size or an SUV as there's usually 4 of us (3 adults and 1 child) and we need a large enough boot for 4 cases plus hand luggage. This year there's just two of us going but I've still booked an SUV as I prefer driving a bigger car out there (my car in the UK is a Toyota aygo so it's a bit of a treat for me!) Size wise I don't think there's much between a compact and an economy. I've also heard stories of people being automatically upgraded because the rental companies generally don't have many compact and economy cars in their fleets.

In 2014 we went for an intermediate (2 adults and a baby) which had ample boot space for 2 (very) large suitcases, a pushchair and lots of hand luggage.
We booked direct with Alamo Brits, but I cant recall how much we paid. One good point is that if you book now, you are able to cancel and rebook without charge should the price fall. Last year we initially booked a full size, but cancelled and rebooked a premium after the price fell (there are often threads on the Dibb saying that Alamo are doing particularly good prices at which point its worth a quick check). We always pick up the car from the Disney Car Centre a few days into the holiday and then return it the day before we go home (taking the Magical Express each way to/from the airport.) A great way to save a few dollars! |

I always have a big car no matter who is with me cus I look at that I cannot afford to drive a £50.000 car so I hire one so if you can afford it treat yourself.
