Can offsite guests watch fireworks from the Polynesian?

Staying offsite and haven't done the fireworks for a few years. We have Disney tickets but hate the exiting of the park after the fireworks.
I know you can have a good view from the beach at the Poly and we quite fancied doing this and having a drink there.
Is this possible for offsite guests, I know we'll need to present ID at the resort gate and hoped we've come for a drink was a viable reason for a visit.

Yes you can. No gate to have id checked unless you mean arriving by car where there is a barrier

The area is not as large as it used to be because of the DVC Villas that were built on the water's edge.

the beach area where you get a view is smaller but the walkway to the GF also gives views. When we were there last August the beach was almost empty during the fireworks.
