florida keys trip

Hi,
We have holiday in Orlando villa end of Aug 2018 and thinking about having couple of nights in Miami with a road trip to Key West. Two adults, two children 13 & 16 yrs.

Would really appreciate any recommended:
Hotels in Miami and/or the Keys
Must see/do, not to be missed

This is our 4th holiday in Orlando and we keep threatening to do it, but is it worth it?

we went last September. Wont be going again, and I used to love key west. Try the Gulf coast keys instead. Much nicer. We stayed on Estero Island, the beach for Fort Myers, beautiful. Siesta Key is also very lovely.

Going next week
Not been before but here's what I'm planning after research:
Road trip from Orlando to Naples for Sanibel, Marco Island, Everglades
Staying Marathon, Courtyard by Marriott to do Key West, turtle hospital, snorkelling and couple of state parks
Also going north to stay Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood beach, north of Miami for few days after cruise. In planning I also looked at East hotel in Miami itself as an option but discounted by kids once they saw Margaritaville!

We loved Key west and would love to go again
Make sure your hotel has parking for your car
