Ah that sucks, it's a shame you didn't notice at the time and could have told him that those were downgrades and you paid more for less...could always kick up a stink on twitter and see if they'll do you a turn

OP. Virgin fulfilled their contract, sadly Alamo didn't. I think for the value involved I would put it down to experience.

However if you are heading back next year I would try via e Mails to get them to give you a voucher for a tank of fuel and bring it back empty.

Yeah, for the sake of a few mins I've sent Alamo a message via Facebook with the booking details and to say I'm disappointed as at no point was I told it was a downgrade etc. and will see what their response is.

Worth a try as we'll likely be going back next year.

hi all

OP sorry you feel you have been short changed and hope you get it sorted, but maybe i'm just a little naive here

as far as i am aware the santa fe and a rogue(uk x trail) are basically the same size vehicle in uk spec both 7 seaters, i know in the states they have two santa fe:- the std which is 7 seats and the sport 5 seats but only one size rogue,

or is it the rogue sport you were given which is a qashqai and therefore i now understand?

i work with hyundai / kia a lot and as far as i am aware here in the uk they are an equivalent,

so what i am asking is why would one be considered better than the other in america ?

not trying to cause a ruckus but genuinely perplexed

The bulk of Rogues are 5 seaters.

The base 2017 Rogue is a five-seat SUV, with cloth upholstery and two rows of seats. Nissan also offers a third-row seat that you can add to the S and SV models, making the Rogue one of the few compact SUVs that can carry up to seven people. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat are also available.

A Rouge is a midsize SUV! They got downgraded..period!
Personally, we have had one and it was crap. Never want to have of those again. We find the Ford Escape a good midsize and it has improved as some years ago..it wasn't the best.
If a car hire has none of the class...they should upgrade..not downgrade.
After many, many yrs of rentals...I know not to settle for less but not everyone knows this and it's sad sometimes people are ripped off.

OP..hope they give ya some money back.

cheers tom one day i will be as knowledgeable as you

so am i to understand then its a down grade in regards to spec and not physical size,

our are they handing out seven seater sant fe's and passing the rogue sports of as full size rogues,

like i said in the uk they only have one size sant fe and rogue (xtrail) and all our seven seaters

again other than opinion just trying to work out how it is a downgrade ?

i'm always trying to none my car knowledge

Most vehicles fit nicely in a certain category so no issue at all. However if they get in some fully loaded type vehicle which happens a lot it will be classified as something weird. For example a Premium SUV Crossover. That will be in the Luxury row.
