Stunning Scenery, wildlife and our "Wonder"ful Disney friends! - Rockies & Alaska Aug 2014 - Day 4

Wednesday 20th August

Woke at 6am and let the kids sleep for a bit longer before we went down for breakfast which was in the Chillis restaurant.

The bite that DH had seemed to have got worse and I was a bit worried.

Weather was colder today and only about 15 degrees and overcast.

We decided to drive on Bow Valley Parkway and visited Johnstone Canyon. It was about 30 minutes walk to the Lower Falls and then walked up to the foot of the Upper Falls. It took a couple of hours altogether.

We had a bit of rain.

We got back on the road and visited Lake Minnewanka, Two Jack Lake and Johnson Lake for photo opportunities.

As we drove on the road, we noticed some cars had pulled over and were taking photos. We got excited that it might be something exciting but it was lots of mule deer.

We arrived back in Banff around 4pm and grabbed an ice cream from Cows which was very nice.

We went back to the room for an hour before dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory. People on the Dibb had recommended it and we enjoyed it too. Kids had pasta with mushrooms and we had parmasan chicken. The meal had soup or salad and ice cream and coffee included in the price and fresh bread with garlic butter. These photos are a little blurry.

It was a chilly and wet night, so we came back and used the hot springs.

Another lovely day with stunning scenery, while we aren't going to The Rockies, your report is really inspiring me. I'm currently looking at the Sea To Sky Highway, Squamish & Whistler and some of the national parks in that area.

Looking forward to the rest

Please stop writing, we can't afford to go, don't want to know how much of a good time you had, or the stunning scenery!

We went to Whistler on our last day when we got off the ship as we didn't fly until the evening - it was lovely.

How did you get there? Did you hire a car for the day? Our flight isn't until the evening either so not sure what to do that day myself.

We hired a car once we got off the ship and got complimentary transport from the port to the car hire office and just hired it for the day - think it was about £30 and dropped it off at the airport. It was a very quick stop in Whistler, but worth it!
